The Video Game Summit is back on in 2023! We are excited to announce that the VGS in McCook, IL will be bigger and better than before.  Our new layout at the McCook MAX Sports Complex give room for more vendors, games, and tournaments. We will have arades, consles, and other playable machines to give the gamer a fun experience while they are at VGS. Raffles and prizes will be given out to winners. We got some great special guests coming to the Video Game Summit this year. All of the special guests are on a Walter Day Trading Card, click the name to see the card.

Brett Weiss - Longtime gamer, freelance writer, and national columnist Brett Weiss has been a respected journalist and historian in the gaming and pop culture communities for well over two decades. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Old School Gamer, Game Informer, Gameroom Magazine, Classic Gamer Magazine, the Pingame Journal, Video Game Collector, Video Game Trader, Fangoria, Filmfax, and AntiqueWeek, among many others. Weiss is also the author of 10 books, including the Classic Home Video Games series, The 100 Greatest Console Video Games: 1977-1987, Encyclopedia of KISS, and The SNES Omnibus volumes 1 and 2. Brett is the host of a quickly growing YouTube show, Tales from a Retro Gamer.

Jeff Lee - @!#?@! Perhaps best known as the creator of Q*Bert, Jeff Lee is an artist who created great work for many of Gottlieb’s video arcade games, as well as games on the Macintosh and Genesis.  Other arcade games on which he has displayed his artistic creativity are Mad Planets, Krull and Three Stooges.  In 2012, Lee illustrated the children's book "The Train to Christmas Town", written by Peggy Ellis.  You can see Jeff’s artistic talent by going to the following website: https://www.jeffreyplee.com/ . 

Steven Wright Jr. (Mr. Wright Way) is a Retired United States Navy Veteran who has always had a passion for Video Games, Collectibles and Photography. He has photographed for All the Major Pro wrestling companies like WWE, AEW, NJPW and more. Jay Malone - Jay Malone started his video game journey in the 80’s, when his cousin sat him down in front of an old TV and played him in Atari Super Football. Since that day, a love of all forms of interactive entertainment has been his primary obsession. Hours upon hours of playing Mega Man 2 and Earthbound eventually led him to work in the game industry for the better part of a decade on titles like NCAA Football 2004, Mirror’s Edge, and Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. In 2019, Jay used that lifelong love of video games to launch the YouTube channel Square Pegs, dedicated to the best in retro and modern gaming. With a love of the Sega Genesis, Nintendo GameCube, and Nintendo 3DS as his favorite consoles, Jay dives into a wide variety of subjects – from platformers to sports, his sincere desire is that we all Play More Games and Stay Square!

Paul E. Niemeyer - Paul E. Niemeyer started his career in video game art by illustrating for industry legend Paul Farris in the art department at Bally/Midway from 1982-1984. At Bally/Midway, Paul did art on games like Tapper, PacMan Plus, Super PacMan, Professor PacMan, TRON, Satan’s Hollow, Spy Hunter, WACKO, Time Killers, Aeroboto, Star Guards,  and an endless, anonymous list of prototype games. In 1984, Paul went freelance and had a dual career as an designer/illustrator in the Chicago ad agencies, and a game art designer/illustrator for the video game community.

Patrick Hickey, Jr. - His first book, The Minds Behind the Games: Interviews with Cult and Classic Video Game Developers was released in April 2018 and is chock full of interviews with legendary developers. His second book in the series, The Minds Behind Adventures Games, was released in December 2019. His third book, The Minds Behind Sports Games, was released in September 2020. His fourth book, The Minds Behind Shooter Games, was released in March 2021. The Minds Behind Sega Genesis Games and The Minds Behind PlayStation Games were released in 2022 and The Minds Behind PlayStation 2 was published in January 2023. Hickey is also a contracted comic book writer, currently penning his original series, “Condrey,” as well as “The Job,” “Brooklyn Bleeds” “Dem Gulls” and “KROOM” for Legacy Comix, where he serves as founder, owner and Editor-in-Chief. The Video Game Summit, now in its 17th year, brings together classic and modern generation gamers from all over the country to swap stories, games. Visit our Game Area where you can play games like Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar, Bomberman 94 on the Turbografx-16 and Phoenix on the 2600 just to name a few as we plan to include other systems that everyone can enjoy including home brew games for the 2600.

A Super Smash Bros. Tournament will be held holsted by "BHOP" ESports.

There will also be a sanctioned Pokemon and Digimon trading card tournament held by "Everything Games".

Best of all, admission to The 2023 Video Game Summit is only 10.00 per person* (kids 12 and under with adult is free). *those who register online will receive a e-book version of the program for free(we will not have any copies of the programs at the show( a free e-book version will also be put up  during the show and stay up until we fix  it up for sale )
