We are proud to announce that there will be a CELEBRITY AUTOGRAPHING SESSION with Beckett Grading Services, Inc., at the Museum of Pinball, in Banning, California, on Saturday, January 16, 2015. This autographing session will be conducted during the ARCADE EXPO 2.0 gaming festival. The hours of the session will be 11AM - 5PM. Go here to learn more about the ARCADE EXPO 2.0.
Everybody who appears on either a Science Fiction Historical Trading Card or a Video Game & Pinball Trading Card is invited to come and sign their cards for the public—or for their own collection. This is a rare opportunity as Beckett does not recognize all card sets that are produced today, and we hope that everyone will come and participate in the fun process of being a "pop culture celebrity" for the day.
THE PROCESS: Not only will Beckett encapsulate your cards in a protective plastic container (called slabbing) and grade its condition (on a scale of 1-10), but Beckett will have your "celebrity" autograph certified, too. For Beckett to authenticate your autograph, you will have to show your ID and then sign your cards in front of the Beckett officials as they watch you sign. (See image above of cards already graded and authenticated by Beckett).
COSTS: Because our group will be submitting a large number of cards for encapsulation, grading, and authenticating, we will be given the low price of $9 per card that is submitted.
HOWEVER, SIGNING IS FREE OF CHARGE: You will not be charged for signing your cards. You are only charged if you want to submit one of your signed cards to Beckett for them to encapsulate and then have one of their experts spend time viewing the card under a microscope to determine the condition of the card (they judge the card in four different ways on a scale of 1 to 10: are the edges straight with no wear or blemishes; are the corners crisp, sharp, and not crumpled; is the surface bright and lustrious with no scratches, wear, stains, etc; and, finally, is the image perfectly centered on the card.) As of the time of this writing, 750 cards from the Walter Day Collection have been submitted to Beckett and only two (2) cards have come back with a grade of "Pristine" 10.0. So, cards with a grade of BGS 9.5 are the golden mean among collectors.
YOU DONT NEED TO COME IN PERSON: If you would like to build a collection of Beckett graded cards but can't come in person, it will be possible to order Beckett graded cards signed by many of the attending celebrities. For more information on this possibility, send Walter Day an email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
