Returning to Ottumwa for the 35th-year reunion of the photo, they were honored with trading cards that were presented by Billy Mitchell and Walter Day along with the AWARD CERTIFICATE shown herein. Back in the Golden Age of Gaming, Canadian Chris Steele was known far and wide as Darren Olson, and gained eternal immortality as one of the 16 “V.I.P. Superstars” photographed by LIFE magazine in their legendary group photograph taken in Ottumwa in November, 1982. Plus, he was one of the three finalists on the “That’s Incredible” video game championship of 1983. Considered by many to be the best player of that ancient era, his amazing skill with Centipede inspired Walter Day to choose Centipede as the game to master. Though long gone from the video game world, his gaming career was featured in the popular video game documentary, Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade. Today, he lives in Southern California and operates chinaliquidators.com, which is one of the world’s most prominent companies specializing in “Wholesale Overstock. Closeouts and Liquidation Merchandise.”
