As a reknown superstar in the highly-competitive classic-gaming realm, Lonnie McDonald has been selected to be one of the featured Superstars in the Walter Day Collection of Video Game & Pinball Trading Cards. During the recent Ottumwa Trading Card Ceremonies, Jay was among an elite group of video game champions who were honored on trading cards for their important contributions to the global gaming culture. Presented by Billy MItchell and Walter Day, the trading card was unveiled -- along with an AWARD CERTIFICATE shown herein -- on Saturday, November 11, 2017, during the Ottumwa Old School Arcade Galaxies of Gaming Festival, at the Quincy Place Mall, in Ottumwa, Iowa.
On March 21, 2017, at the renown National Videogame Museum, in Frisco, Texas, Lonnie McDonald, of Grandview, Missouri, made history by turning over the high-score counter on his 150th consecutive Joust machine. And, to honor him, this trading card was presented in ceremony to Lonnie at the Galaxies of Gaming arcade festival in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Saturday night, November 11, 2017, in recognition of the success of his unique Joust Odyssey. By having turned over the high-score counter at 9,999,990 points on 150 different Joust machines over the last few years, Lonnie has single-handedly brought positive publicity to the world of classic arcade gaming again and again. As the fame of his Joust Odyssey has grown, he has inspired gamers elsewhere to put their gaming skills to the task of generating publicity for charities and other socially redeeming projects. Finally -- and not surprisingly -- Lonnie was inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame (IVGHOF) on November 11, 2017, in Ottumwa, Iowa. And, at the same time, he raised his count of conquered Joust games past the 170-game mark.
