During the recent Ottumwa Trading Card Ceremonies, Siem G. Sium was among an elite group of video game luminaries from Empire Arcadia who were honored on trading cards for their important contributions to the global gaming culture. Their trading cards were presented by Billy MItchell and Walter Day -- along with the AWARD CERTIFICATE shown below -- on Saturday, November 11, 2017, during the Ottumwa Old School Arcade Galaxies of Gaming Festival, at the Quincy Place Mall, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Siem's father started playing video games with him back in 2007 via the Game Boy Advance. Every day, the father would spend hours reliving heart-felt tales from his gaming youth, and, over time, the awesome stories shaped the youth’s passion for the love of technology and competitive gaming. Not surprisingly, Siem became a member of the Empire Arcadia community in August of 2017 and found himself helping to support the video game culture and community that he had come to admire. Though Siem is at the beginning of his gaming career -- essentially in his “rookie season” with Empire Arcadia, he has come to know about the history of Ottumwa, Iowa and its contributions to the foundation of eSports. To him, it is the quintessence of video game history and camaraderie. Ottumwa has held the banner high as a leader for the global eSports world, not just America. Inspired by its history, he now looks to carry forth the spirit of Ottumwa's pioneering legacy through his own gaming career and, someday, use his field of personal interest (human and computer interactions via Augmented and Virtual Reality Design) to tell the story of Ottumwa to a world audience. • Trading Card artwork by Caerwyn Akiwumi-Jones
