Though not able to attend in person the recent Ottumwa Trading Card Ceremonies, Caterina Hunts was recognized as being a member of the elite group of video game luminaries from Empire Arcadia who were honored on trading cards for their important contributions to the global gaming culture. Their trading cards were presented by Billy MItchell and Walter Day -- along with the AWARD CERTIFICATE shown below -- on Saturday, November 11, 2017, during the Ottumwa Old School Arcade Galaxies of Gaming Festival, at the Quincy Place Mall, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Caterina Hunts is an eSports competitor for Empire Arcadia. She first began playing video games at the age of three. Her interest in competitive gaming began when she was given a copy of the Super Nintendo Game, Tetris Attack. Plus, her mother inspired her competitive nature to flourish when she shared her first-hand memories of the Tetris Attack tournaments she used to participate in. Because of her mother's stories, Caterina would practice and play video games in hopes of someday participating in gaming tournaments. Before she decided to take competitive gaming seriously, however, she used to compete in Taekwondo tournaments until she severely injured her knee. As a result of her injury, she soon found herself focusing more and more on eSports. At first she was playing just for the thrill of it and never in her craziest dreams did she think that someday she would play for an actual eSports team. But, now, she leads the Splatoon 2 division for Empire Arcadia and intends to pick up other games to play competitively in addition toTetris.
