Empire Arcadia Unites Gaming Community for Memorial
One of the most charismatic and electrifying personalities of the gaming community passed away at the end of 2013. Empire Arcadia gathered members of their eSports gaming team from around the United States at a fighting game tournament called “Defend the North” in Queens, New York, to pay tribute to their fallen member. In teams competition for the “Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition ver. 2012,” Empire Arcadia would win the event in commemoration of Nelson "Remix" Reyes. Other players throughout the fighting game community showed their respects not only at the event but also around the nation. Super Arcade manager Mike Watson also held a tournament in Nelson's honor to help raise money for his funeral. Reyes was a long-time member of the New York fighting game community and an integral part of Empire Arcadia, most notably competing in Marvel vs Capcom 2, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Super Street Fighter 4. Reyes helped Johnson produce the teams 1st eSports jersey and supported the team financially along the way. For many, Reyes will always be known as the "most electrifying player in Digital Sports Entertainment.” Reyes was 28-years old.
