The Ralph Baer error card (#2) is one of the the rarest and most valuable cards in the entire Walter Day Collection. It was issued with an error in the text that was first noticed by Ralph Baer himself after the card had been printed as a run of 1,000 copies. All the error cards were destroyed except the approximately 50 cards that were distributed before the error was detected. Ralph Baer had given the original proof his approval but then noticed his mistake after the card was printed.
Mr. Baer actually autographed about 12 copies of the error card. All those autographed copies have already been distributed—commonly given out as gifts to supporters. The corrected card was produced as a run of 1,000 copies and 90% of those cards have been distributed. Here is the error text followed by the corrected text:
ERROR CARD: "Now, Mr. Baer has been inventing and marketing toy agnate ideas since 1983."
CORRECTED CARD: "Now, Mr. Baer has been inventing and marketing toy and game ideas since 1983."
Only one copy of this card is known so far to have been Graded and Authenticated by Beckett Grading Services. It is BGS 8.5 Registration #0008572534.
