Our next Fairfield Trading Card Spotlight features Mark Delott, who is displayed on card number 130, from the Fairfield Collection.  Mark is heavily involved in the TM (transcendental meditation) world. He began at the age of 21 whereby the end of the year he was a teacher. He also became a stockbroker in 1976 which helped him work in the finance area which he still does today. In 2003, Mark started up a company called “Seminar Crowds”, which is still one of the most successful startup companies in Fairfield, Iowa. Other passions of Mark are the study of the brain and mind and how it makes people successful, healthy, and wealthy.

Where did you grow up and when did you move to Fairfield, Iowa?

I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana.  I moved to FF in 1992 though I lived here for a few years in 1980-1981.

What comes to mind when you hear the word ‘Fairfield, Iowa’?

Simplicity of life.

What are your favorite movies past and present?

As a kid "The Alamo with John Wayne as Davey Crocket. Godfather Part 1 and 2 past and present.

Who is your favorite Sports figure and what makes that person special?

*Mickey Mantle because I loved baseball as a youngster, and he was my favorite.

Did you ever think when you were younger you would be on a trading card? 

No

When did you first meet Walter day and where was it at?

Either Interlaken, Switzerland in 1977 or Avoriaz, France in 1974 (Can't remember.)

If you could describe Walter Day in one word, what would that word be and why?

Amazing -- Because of all his accomplishments.

Are you still involved with TM, and what role do you play?

Yes-- Just being regular in practice. 

What other business have you owned and what was your favorite?

My current business is my favorite- Seminar Crowds, Inc. 

Why is your involvement in the TM movement important to you?

It is the uppermost level of potential for Enlightenment.

What does it take to be a stockbroker and is it different today?

It takes a brokerage firm to hire and train you just as it always has.

What celebrities do you admire today and who did you look up to as a child? 

All of the Beatles. As a child I admired Mickey Mantle.

Did you play video games growing up and what were some of your favorites?

No, I did not play video games

If you can design your own video game, what would it be about and who would be the main character?

Walter Day

What do you see yourself doing in the next 10 years?

Living at ease and hopefully very healthy.
